Our story

Founded to help members build their own future

Mesteemic Thrift & Cooperative Society began by bringing together young professionals and like-minded entrepreneurs to pool their funds into a reliable, member-owned source of credit and investment.

Our aim is to develop each member’s skills while strengthening the economy we share. We believe young professionals deserve to invest their energy in their own future — not spend it competing for scarce opportunities with large multinationals.

So we focus on people who share our values: ambitious, aspiring professionals and entrepreneurs working toward real personal, economic and social goals through a jointly-owned enterprise.

Member-owned
Every member shares in the relationship — and in what the cooperative builds.
Asset-backed
A real food business behind the savings, not just a promise.
Prosperity-first
Designed to promote long-term financial independence, not short-term gain.
Our philosophy

Strength in numbers

Our philosophy is simple: there is incredible strength — and incredible opportunity — in joint endeavour. People achieve far more together than alone, and small-business owners can reach their goals with or without heavy traditional bank loans. We take a modern approach to savings and credit — developing individual skills while building shared capacity and strengthening the local economy.

🌱
Grow together

We help members build enterprises — in farming, consumer goods and beyond — and fund the projects that move them forward.

💛
Save as a habit

We exist to inject a culture of regular, consistent saving into everyday life, and steer members toward lasting independence.

📈
Rise steadily

Easy access to fair credit, practical guidance and a community that lifts members’ financial standing over time.

Why a cooperative?

Because food prices in Lagos punish the people who buy the most. Our answer: members own the relationship. Join for ₦2,000 a year, and every basket you buy earns you a bigger discount tier and grows a savings wallet you can spend any time. The more the community buys together, the cheaper good food gets for everyone in it.
